We Lost Boo Tonight

Tonight Boo suddenly started struggling to breathe.  He had been acting normal all day, even playful this afternoon.  I fed them before I went to take a shower and Boo ate his and was going after Ed's share as I was heading up the stairs.  Everything seemed normal.  No signs of anything wrong.

The Murph suddenly called me into the dining room where he had found Boo, laying on his side struggling to breathe.  At first we thought that he had a hair ball stuck in his throat and we tried to help him get it up, but it wasn't working.  Boo's brother, Ed and my cat Cadence, watched as we tried unsuccessfully to save Boo.

When nothing seemed to be working, I ran to call the vet, but they were already closed for the evening. The Murph put Boo in the card board box top (the cat trap) that Boo like to sleep in and we rushed him to the emergency vet.

The Murph tried to keep him alive while I tried to stay calm and drive.  But by the time we got to the vet, Boo had passed away.  The vet listened, but there was no heart beat.  The vet techs gave us a coffin for Boo and put his name on it and some flowers on the box.  We brought him home and are burying him tomorrow.

Boo loved this red toy Santa.  He actually loved all of the red toys.  Maybe that was because that was the only color he could still see since his vision was going in his old age.  He loved this stuffed puppy and carried it around every where for a while.  He would always bring me an assortment of toys and leave them at my feet.

We are very concerned about Boo's brother, Ed.  He's never in his entire 14 years been without his brother.  He seems to be waiting for him to come back.  Cadence seems to be looking too.  I wonder if they understand what happened tonight.

We feel like we lost a family member.

RIP Boo.  We love you very much.

Cat Traps

I learned about these great cat traps after somebody posted this picture on Facebook.

So we put one of those cat traps out and boy, do they work!  Even broken traps! We caught two in one!

Brothers

Ed and Boo, brothers and two of the sweetest kitties ever, sharing the window.  I think Ed looks a lot like Maru, the famous youtube kitty.

Could Ed and Boo be part Scottish fold?

Getting Along

This is Cadence (at the top of the climbing tree) and Ed and Boo sharing the window yesterday.  No biting, scratching, hitting on the head with paws just getting along nicely.  Brotherly love in recognition of the Easter holiday.

Boo Channeling Snoopy

Ken says that Boo reminds him of Snoopy, the Peanuts cartoon dog when he lies with his paws like this.  And he does this all the time.  I'm not so sure, but maybe if he was on his back,on  top of a dog house, I would see it. Either way Boo is very cute.  Maybe he is channeling Snoopy through this little stuffed dog of his.

Is Snoopy sending Boo a message of some sort?

Boo is worn out from all the Snoopy channeling.  Ed's just trying to take over my running shoes.

Sunshine On My Shoulders Makes Me Happy.....

Cadence took back the climbing tree today.  He's been much happier since he reclaimed the top spot.

Boo doesn't mind so much at all.  He and Ed hung out and got some sun today next to one of the other windows.  One of them even left a little hair ball gift on the carpet nearby.

Old Commercials And Rock em Sock em Robot Kitties

I took this picture of Ed and Boo playing, but then it got a little out of hand when Boo got ticked off.  Reminds me of the rockem sockem robots that my little brother had as a kid....  I was waiting for Ed's head to pop up at any time.....

Taking Back My Ugg Boots

I had a rare opportunity today while Ed and Boo were "sunning' to take back my Uggs since they were finally off of them.  The Ugg Boots have a little extra "fur" than usual, but none the worse for wear.

Sorry guys!

Productive Trip

Overall the Murph and I have been very productive on this trip back home.  We got caught up on a month of mail and bills and tomorrow is hair appointment day.  We've caught up with friends and I had lunch with the Running Nazi today.  She told me I should run in the Ruben Studdard 1/2 marathon in Birmingham the week after doing a marathon as a "recovery" run.  I don't know how she thinks a 1/2 marathon is a "recovery" run after a full marathon.  My idea of recovery after a full marathon is sitting on the couch eating cookies.  It usually takes me four day after the marathon before I can even walk normal or lower myself down on the toilet seat without wincing.  Sounds fun though!  Maybe I will try it just to see if I'm as tough as the Nazi ( I already know I am not as tough!)

Ed and Boo continue to follow me around and curl up at my feet.  They are my little furry subjects and I am their Queen Kristy.  The Murph is totally disgusted by their behavior.  Boo has brought me his little dolls and stuffed mice as gifts.  He loves me.  The Boy laughed at Boo when he saw Boo's fur the other day.   Poor Boo is a little mangy, but he's old and can't help himself.

Up All Night

Last night Ed decided he was going to sleep with us so he jumped on the bed at some ungodly hour waking me up.  Then the Murph knocked him off the bed so he disappeared for awhile.  Long enough for me to fall back to sleep before he jumped back up on the bed and started walking on me.  At least he didn't purr loudly in my face like Phantom does or slap me with his paw like Cadence.

Ed pretending to be innocent.
The other night Cadence kept jumping on the bed and pawing at my face and then Phantom jumped up and scared Cadence.  Cadence dug his claws in the bed, in me and in the Murph as he fled, jumping all the way across the bed to the floor to get away from Phantom.  Then the loud purring started and kept on for a while, in my face.  Phantom looks and sounds like a large overgrown bumble bee. After Phantom decided to jump off the bed (with a loud thump that always wakes us up if we aren't already awake), Cadence jumped back on the bed.  This lasted pretty much all night until we got up around 7 a.m. to feed the little bastards (that's what the Murph calls them).

You can tell just by looking at him that Boo doesn't miss a meal!

As we were leaving the condo to go workout, little Cadence was looking at us with sleepy eyes waiting for us to leave.  He was ready to catch up on his sleep after we were gone.  After all, he had been up all night playing on top of us.  The Murph told Cadence that he would be back in 15 minutes to wake him up.  Revenge!  He didn't of course, but when we got back from our workout, he did make sure to find Cadence and wake the little "bastard" up!

Poor Boo doesn't have any of these bad characteristics.  He just behaves and makes sure he doesn't miss the soft food he gets for breakfast.  I think I will kittynap him and take him back with me to the condo.

Tonight the Murph informed me that the cats are locked OUT of the bedroom!  Sorry guys!

Running with the Running Nazi, Rocking chairs and Snuggies...

My triathlon training is going REALLY well right now.  I actually did a 10 mile run today with the Running Nazi.  It was my first long run in over a week (last long run was when I did 13 miles with her over a week ago).  I did do a few hard 3 to 5 mile runs at the coast last week.  The Running Nazi did a 20 on Sunday and a 7 miler yesterday, then a 10 miler with me today.  She will probably do another 10 to 13 miles tomorrow after spin class.  She did spin class and weights today before she ran with me.  I feel like a slacker cause I just did weights before the 10 mile run.  I am soooo lazy!

The Murph and I are back at the coast.  We decided to leave Ed and Boo at the house with a sitter for now.  Ed's happy and not getting bitten and attacked by Phantom, so that's good.  Ed was doing "wierd" things to Boo, but they are "just playing" according to the Murph (yeah right!).  The Jazz Cats, Phantom and Cadence were happy to see us.  I am happy to see them and get back here for sure!

Tomorrow we go shopping for a bicycle for the Murph and a rocker/recliner for me.  It's a necessity.  I can't sit still for anything!  I have had the same wooden rocking chair since I was a teenager.  It has followed my everywhere for the past 25 years.  It was the only piece of furniture we had when I married my first husband.  He didn't dare try to sit in it either buddy!  Sadly,  I decided to leave the rocker at the house instead of lugging it down to the condo.   The only problem is, I can't sit still without a rocker.  It's the only way I can sit through a television program or stay in the same room for over 15 minutes.

Go ahead, call me Granny.  Call me whatever!  I'm burning more calories while I watch tv than you are and YES, I have a snuggie too!  A pink one, of course.
