FYI Mac Daddy is a car. One of the fleet of cars in our driveway, all of which have names. Mac Daddy is the biggest luxury car that gets neglected most of the time because we prefer to drive the SUV. The Murph named the SUV the Black Panther. It's considered my car because I have to have something big to carry around all my stuff. Triathletes need big cars to carry all their stuff. It's mandatory.
The other car that the Boy use to drive is called the Silver Bullet and the convertible is Little Red. It only gets driven during the warm months. During the colder months, like now, Mac Daddy gets driven more just so it gets a little attention. The Boy's Jag has no name and gets no attention whatsoever. Both the Silver Bullet and the Jag will hopefully be up for sale soon.
Honestly, we really don't need Mac Daddy either since we have the Black Panther and Little Red, but try to explain that to the Murph. Our driveway looks like a used car lot right now.

But I digress. The reason for this post is because over the past year or so, every time I've ridden in Mac Daddy, the same CD is playing. That CD is a jazz one by Miles Davis called Kind of Blue (find it here.) The first song, All Blues, always starts playing the minute the car is running. Like EVERY SINGLE TIME I'M IN THAT CAR! It's another one of those songs that sticks in my head and stays there for the rest of the day.
Today I finally deemed that song as Mac Daddy's theme song. Have you ever heard of a car that had it's own theme song?
Well, now you have!
A theme song for a car? That's cool. But to tell the truth, we don't own a car. Everything is close for us so we decided that a car isn't necessary right now.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what we would do without a car. We aren't close enough to walk to anything and if we did try to walk, we would probably get run over. It's not very pedestrian friendly around here. We don't need all the ones we have though. Too expensive to maintain.
DeleteWhy is the car named Mac Daddy?
ReplyDeleteWe look like a used car lot, too. I don't understand why it has to be this way... Men + cars, I guess. And to complicate matters, as you know, my car is at my dad's in Alabama. I've been driving my father-in-law's car and he's in South America. Yeah...men + cars.
It's called Mac Daddy because it's the baddest of all the other cars in the lot. The baddest of the bad. Top of the line. LOL Murph gives everything nicknames - the cars, the cats, me... Cadence's nickname is "Cry baby" and Phantom is "the Kraken" and every time Murph see's him he yells "OH NOOO!!". Ed is either "Edwardo or Pretty Boy." Mine (one of mine) is "Wrecking Ball". Yeah... men and cars or just men... period!
DeleteTheme song for a car reminds me of that Johnny Cash song about the guy who worked in a factory and over time lifted enough parts to create a car from scratch. Forget thenameofthe song though . . .
ReplyDeleteI love Johnny Cash but had never heard that song so I googled it and found it on you tube. It's called "one part at a time". Funny!
